		<description>This topic is always an interesting and hot topic for me as well... Having worked in both environments I can say with out a doubt that having a standard is far easier to mange than not having one... In my old job they use to name servers after planets and moons... no ryme or reason as to what they hosted....  but in another job we used E for eastern timezone, C for central TZ, etc with a 3 letter site code followed by a short application name i.e  cchi-webapp.company.us.com   So an admin can quickly figure out based on the FQDN that this is in chicago USA and is a Web application type server...
