Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT), the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the integration of Red Hat Storage and Red Hat OpenStack to provide customers with a proven storage and compute solution with the benefit of being engineered and supported in concert by one company. Red Hat Storage and Red Hat OpenStack give customers a full-featured storage and compute solution today, a platform for innovation tomorrow, and a smooth support experience during the journey to open hybrid cloud.

Using Red Hat Storage and Red Hat OpenStack make it easier to deploy and manage the enterprise and public cloud with its unified storage services for OpenStack supporting Block Storage (Cinder), Image Service (Glance) and Object Storage (Swift) from the same storage pool. Red Hat Storage has the ability to run storage and compute services on the same physical or virtual server to further reduce the cost of OpenStack infrastructure. Red Hat’s open software-defined storage capabilities that run exclusively in user space is a key enabler for future OpenStack storage innovation like File-as-a-Service and Hadoop running on OpenStack. Red Hat expects to be a catalyst in driving community-driven innovation in these and other areas with the goal of delivering the best functionality and user experience for enterprises deploying storage in an open source cloud infrastructure.

It’s great to see continued innovation in the OpenStack space from Red Hat and further commitment to providing their customers with the tools they need for today and for open hybrid cloud tomorrow. I’m off to read more.
