May 13, 2013 – Lexington, MA and Providence, RI – Desktone, Inc., the pioneer of Desktops as a Service (DaaS), and GreenBytes, Inc., developer of IO-Offload solutions that optimize full-featured virtual desktop environments, today announced a strategic partnership to offer service providers an all-in-one on-premises solution.  By combining the Desktone DaaS Platform with the GreenBytes vIO virtual storage appliance, the companies are making high-performance virtual desktop environments simple and affordable.

“Many businesses that want to implement full-featured virtual desktops have been waylaid by the high cost and complexities inherent in building and managing the infrastructure,” said Danny Allan, CTO, Desktone. “Desktone and GreenBytes have had great success in helping businesses remove those obstacles and now, by integrating GreenBytes’ IO offload solution with our purpose-built, cloud-managed DaaS Platform, we’re making it even easier for companies to implement high-performing, low-cost virtual desktops.”

“Like Desktone, we believe businesses should be able to implement robust virtual desktop environments without having to invest in and manage additional infrastructure,” said Bob Petrocelli, Founder and CTO, GreenBytes. “By combining GreenBytes technology, which slashes virtual desktop storage requirements, with Desktone’s mulit-tenant virtual desktop platform, we’re enabling a desktop experience that’s incredibly flexible and cost-effective, and requires very little management by the customer.”

I love the work that GreenBytes are doing in the virtual desktop space, anything that they can do to transform the possibilities with the offering and bring next generation mobility without the complexity and the cost has to be a good thing for the platform and the industry, do check them out if you’re looking at virtualization.
