Top HP ProLiant Gen8 features

I was having a chat Chris asking him what’s he is up to, last time we spoke he was working on an internal cloud solution which was comprised of HP Proliant BL460c Gen8 blades, with NetApp storage to deliver a more dynamic and on demand VMware environment to transform the provisioning system, the idea being that he could build a server and hand it over to the applications team in hours not days.

I was asking how his internal cloud solution was going and he genuinely seems quite pleased with it which led on to conversations about cloud and more importantly how his Gen8 blades were doing and whether he had tried any of their rack servers if so which ones and what his favourite features were:

• I’ve used the DL360 Gen8 and DL380 Gen8 and we’ve been very impressed, my top features?
• iLO4 – just easier to use and quicker, love it.
• FlexLOM – being able to specify the onboard has made integration and deployment easier
• Agentless monitoring is brilliant – makes life a lot easier in terms of management and configuration
• HP Smart Update Manager
