Thursday – this means it’s server of the week

So our server of the week, the one I’ve been reading about is the Cisco UCS C240 M3:

The Cisco UCS C240 M3 is their 2 socket, 2u rack server based on the Intel Xeon E5-2600 processors which builds upon Cisco UCS and brings further enhancements for application and virtualization performance.

The specifications in summary are as follows:

• 2x Intel Xeon E5-2600 processors
• Support for 384GB of RAM
• Up to 24 hard drives
• 5 PCIe slots
• 4x 1GB Ethernet on board
• The Cisco UCS C-Series Integrated Management Controller (CIMC)

It’s key usage scenarios include application and database hosting, as well as virtualization, noting of course that the Cisco UCS C240 M3 is optimized and ready for deployment and integration should you want to build up towards the a Cisco UCS solution.
