Lloyds TSB has named Mark Fisher – currently overseeing the integration of ABM Amro into the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) – as director of group IT and operations.

Fisher will join next year as a member of the group executive committee (GEC) of the newly named Lloyds Banking Group to head the integration of high street rival Hbos.

An RBS executive director, Fisher is currently seconded to ABN Amro as chief executive, overseeing the Dutch bank’s integration following its acquisition last year.

There have been some challenging times in the financial sector and these are set to continue, the lack of understanding the situation, where we are so to speak, the unsettlement is more damaging in many respects than the announcements of losses expected or unexpected. Some colleagues were mentioning the need to batton down the hatches.

Absolutely, but let’s not forget that business goes on regardless, data centers continue to get full, costs need to be brought down, for that to happen investment projects, consolidation projects will need to be kicked off, bringing benefits to IT teams and businesses alike.
