News: Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation today announced the PRIMERGY(R) SX650 storage blade, which provides incremental disk storage to Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX620 S4 server blades and offers full hardware RAID control for up to 730GB of dedicated disk storage.
Quote: “Fujitsu is committed to delivering innovations that make it simpler and more cost effective for companies to scale the data center to meet their current growth requirements,” said Richard McCormack, senior vice president of marketing, Fujitsu Computer Systems. “The PRIMERGY SX650 storage blade is the ultimate solution for data centers that want to increase their blade server storage capacities incrementally without the complexity and costs of SAN-based connectivity.”
Great news about Fujitsu’s new storage blade. The storage blade as a solution could be ideal for a number of uses, for example as a mini file server for those remote office locations or for shared storage.
That Fujitsu (as well as the other vendors) are offering a storage blade means more choice and competition in the market which has to be a good thing for the end user.
