Public Technology

The UK IT market continues to grow despite the global financial downturn. According to data from EITO, a European market research institute supported by Intellect, the UK will see a 1.4% rise in the value of its IT market this year to £59.3 billion.

The software and IT services sectors, set to be worth £9.1 billion and £36.6 billion, are expecting the largest proportion of growth at 4.4% and 5% respectively. Spending on IT in the UK is set to increase from £57.3 billion to £59.3 billion.

An interesting read, the demand for technology is set to continue, maybe in different ways but continue nonetheless. I might want to refresh my hardware to lower my support costs, to reduce the environmental impact of my IT or to upgrade to the latest supported operating system or application. What we will find is a switch from more high impact investment projects to more revenue or return on investment type projects. We’ll have to see how this works in the city, what you tend to find is there are more support roles, more people to keep everything working and less deploying new systems.
