How much does a RIB card cost?

I got an email from Mike:

“How much should I be paying for a RIB card for a DL580 with 700mhz processors?”

“Also how do I know which slot it goes in, which servers have lights out.”

The price is going to depend on whether you have any purchasing agreements, whether you’re buying it new or from a recycled store. Here’s a quick post and response.

In summary any server that is not a G2 (except early DL380G2 and the AMD servers) will not have integrated lights out, so for this you will need to install a separate pci card, either the RIB or RIB2 card. The RIB2 card has enhanced functionality. In terms of the slot and which servers are supported, do check the user guide or speak with your service provider.

As an example these servers lack on board lights out:

  • Compaq DL360, 380,580, 760 and 760G2 servers do not have on board lights out
  • Compaq 850,1600, 2500, 5000, 6400, 6500 and 8500 (amongst others)

Anyway, here’s a link which explains the specifications and has a price, check them out:

The quickspecs are here and the user guide is here.
