Bull has launched a single-socket blade server as part of its Bio Data Center initiative to combine performance, flexibility, and sustainable development.

It said the NovaScale B240 blade server features dual-core or quad-core single-socket Intel Xeon 3000 processors, 1333MHz FSB Bus, up to 24GB memory, and up to 292GB storage per blade, extendable to 730GB with an SAS storage extension unit. Bull said the server also consumes 50% less energy than a traditional server of similar capacity, and provides enterprise-class reliability, availability, and serviceability.

The more products and product innovation in the blade market, the better for the end user and the industry. I’ll need to read up more about them, the energy efficiency reports could be a driver for some as could the storage and memory support.
