Cisco Systems Inc. announced Tuesday this week new products and professional services that will help customers virtualize data centers for greater operational and energy efficiency. The new offerings make the virtual network a highly efficient platform for delivering data center services, by accelerating, providing security, and orchestrating application delivery networks, servers, virtualized computing, and storage, while providing better responsiveness and resource conservation.

Cisco is a global provider of networking solutions that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate.

Very cool, it will be interesting to see the ongoing innovation from Cisco within the network, in particular the fibre channel over ethernet. I can see this as a real enabler in terms of delivery. That one team manages and allocates ports means less teams involved, less delays in allocation of ports for networks/storage. You’ll have your storage guys of course, managing the EMC/Hitachi or whatever storage you have from a storage point of view, but the actual port allocation can be done by the guys that are going to be allocating network storage anyway. We’ll have to see, an interesting read.
