REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Jul 09, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Check Point(R) Software Technologies Ltd. The worldwide leader in securing the Internet, is today providing ZoneAlarm customers with a solution to address the loss of Internet access which may occur after the installation of Microsoft Update KB951748.

In a posted Security Advisory, Check Point advised ZoneAlarm users of several options for restoring connectivity to the Internet. The options include: a) temporarily uninstalling yesterday’s hotfix issued by Microsoft which caused the loss of internet access b) setting firewall security to “medium” and c) additional options described at the link below. Additionally, later today, Check Point will be issuing a ZoneAlarm update that provides a solution to users.

There have been issues reported with the impact of the July 2008 security patches on Zone Alarm, so do check it out if you’re having problems. As I understand it, uninstalling the patch will resolve the issue until a replacement patch or update to the Zone Alarm software is released, do check out their support site for more information.
