San Diego, California (PRWEB) June 15, 2008 — MAGMA today announced the availability of a family of Blade Expansion products that augment the functionality of the Sun Blade(TM) 6000, 6048 and 8000 Modular Systems by allowing the seamless integration of standard off-the-shelf I/O and CPU cards that are of PCI Express and PCI-X form factors.

Randy Jones, MAGMA’s CEO, said, ”I am delighted to be able to fill this need in Sun’s Blade Server market with our Expansion product line that addresses the growing demands of I/O functionality for the Servers with the capability of adding standard PCI Express and PCI-X cards.” These products work in a tightly coupled manner with the Blade models to provide additional compute Blade facilities as well as I/O extensions for Graphics, Telecom, Storage and other solutions to Sun’s Modular Systems.

Customers can now use any PCIe, PCI-X cards on our platform for demanding media, telcom, and business applications. Randy further noted ”Blade Servers are growing at a substantial rate in the server space and their applications are proliferating from the traditional compute segment to others that need extended I/O capabilities; we are very proud to be working closely with Sun on addressing their customer’s newer requirements.”
