Telecity announces new data center in Paris

http://www.telecitygroup.com/news–info/article/telecitygroup-announces-new-48-million-data-centre-build-in-paris

Paris, 15 May 2008: TelecityGroup, the leading pan-European operator of network independent data centres, today announces that it will build a new data centre in Paris. Ongoing customer demand and overall utilisation in TelecityGroup’s existing facilities in Paris is high and the new data centre will ensure the Group continues to have growth capacity in one of Europe’s largest data centre markets. The new facility will be the Group’s 21st data centre in Europe and its third in the French capital.

Stephane Duproz, Managing Director of TelecityGroup France, commented:
“Customers are increasingly seeking large and resilient data centres to provide secure hosting and connectivity services. The continued growth of the internet economy and the evolving online needs of business both locally and internationally are combining to drive the increase in demand for high-quality data centres.”

The data centre is to be launched in phases from the second half of 2009 through to the second quarter of 2011 providing over 3000 square metres of net customer space. Overall data centre power will be approximately 14 megawatts (MW) and total customer power will be approximately 5 MW, with the ability to support high power density requirements of up to 20 kilowatts per rack. Subject to final planning permission for the site, which is expected towards the end of 2008, the Group will invest a total of €48 million in the project, which will be fully financed from existing bank facilities.

The demand for data center space continues, and Telecity have announced a new build, it’s an interesting read and mentions the power requirements - very cool!

    Hi Martin,

I regularly reed your blog - great that you picked up our announcement re Paris - but we’ve also open new sites in Amsterdam and London (both capable of upto 25kW / rack).

The London site is a $100M + build (pretty big when you consider all the press Google / Microsoft get with their $200M builds - which include all of the server equipment to go inside!). Their is a video online - if you’re interested in publishing the link - you’re more than welcome to do so.
