Don’t get suckered into solid state disks based on seek time alone. Examining all the solid state disks on the market, there is no doubt that for workstations and servers, SSD’s offer a panacea – lower temperatures, less power consumption, fast access times.

I’ve been debating getting a solid state drive for my ThinkPad X60s, I’m hoping it might be a little bit faster, with that in mind I was doing some research and found this article by one of my colleagues, Paul. I’ve been looking at the different drives and there does seem to be a difference in the drive specifications for read/write, check out Paul’s post for more info.
