Jan 18, 2008 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) — RACK | news | PowerRating | PR Charts — US-based servers and storage products company Rackable Systems has launched the C4108, a four-way server based on the dual and quad core Intel Xeon 7200 and 7300 series processors targeting the large-scale data center market.

According to the company, the C4108 offers four sockets while conforming to an industry-standard, rack-mount standard-depth form factor. It provides eight 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS hard disk drives and optional support for RAID. It can host up to seven PCI express add-in cards and is available with 1570 watt AC power supplies and cooling fans. It also provides remote management with IPMI support and keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) redirection through a dedicated out-of-band network interface.

Very cool, I’ll need to take a look at these new servers from Rackable, they sound interesting and the more choice we have in the market, the more chances there are that as an end user I’ll find the right solution for my business, which has to be a good thing.
