LONDON – 14 January 2008 – DataSynapse, Inc. today announced the launch of its FabricServer™ 2.5 software, an enabling platform for achieving real-time infrastructure. The latest version of DataSynapse’s enterprise application virtualisation platform is the only commercially available software that configures, activates and scales applications based on business demands and policies. With the new version of FabricServer, DataSynapse customers can create real-time infrastructure environments that dynamically allocate computing resources to enterprise applications – lowering existing operational costs and reducing data centre growth by increasing resource utilisation
Real-time infrastructure is IT infrastructure that dynamically responds to business demand and enables the timely and cost-effective delivery of new business services. According to Donna Scott, vice president at Gartner Inc., in the “Hype Cycle for IT Operations Management, 2007†report (published 22 June 2007), “Real-time infrastructure has three value propositions expressed as business goals: reduced costs, achieved by better, more-efficient resource usage and by reduced IT operations management costs; improved service levels, achieved by dynamic tuning of IT services; and increased agility, achieved by rapid provisioning of new services or resources and scaling of established services.â€
The latest release of FabricServer improves the end-to-end user experience for business applications by allocating computing resources based on business demand, business calendar, service level agreements (SLAs) or transactional priority. The 2.5 version contains DataSynapse Studio™ software, the first developer tool for real-time environments that automates and standardises the testing, deployment and packaging of enterprise applications. The updated release also provides seamless integration with DataSynapse VersaVision™ software, the company’s business reporting and analytics platform, which provides visibility into real-time infrastructure and the enterprise applications that run on it.

The latest release of FabricServer, which will be generally available in Q1 2008, includes the following key new features:
- DataSynapse Studio:Â A development tool for configuring enterprise applications for a real-time IT environment.
- Support for Microsoft Application Platforms: Supports .NET Framework 3.0, Internet Information Server and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 alongside existing support for Java, J2EE, Legacy and COTS/ISV applications – many of the technologies in the application portfolio of DataSynapse’s enterprise customers.
- Command-Line Interface:Â Enables integration with enterprise scripting languages to automate packaging and deployment of enterprise applications.

Very cool, I love the idea in terms of the “real time infrastructure.” The idea that we can move the IT to a commodity, to a model based on service provisioning, where an application developer or business sponsor states the business needs, letting IT work out what is needed.
“I have a batch which runs 9-5, it’s more important in terms of user experience than commodities, can you fix it please”.
A real time infastructure where workload/processing requirements are moved around the infrastructure to be more energy efficient, more effective in terms of delivery/scalability, but importantly abstracted from the day to day issues with running an IT infrastructure. The kind of concept Where an outage of server8 doesn’t mean my pricing stops which breaks the back office reporting.
In essence, running your pricing system should be as commoditized from an infrastructure scenario as the email system – IT just is. Anything DataSynapse can do to aid this process has to be a good thing; that FabricServer now features a development tool to aid development, supprots Microsoft Applications and has a command line interface sounds like interesting developments, I’ll need to take a look at it.
