SWsoft, the virtualisation and automation software maker has announced plans to rebrand itself, adopting “Parallels” as its new corporate name.

Parallels is the company’s existing virtual machine software product that allows users to run multiple operating systems (OS) on a Mac computer.

Serguei Beloussov, SWsoft chief executive told IT PRO that the re-branding exercise, to be complete in early 2008, is the first in a series of moves that will help its customers and partners realise the benefits of what it is calling ‘Optimised Computing’.

“This means enhancing Windows, Linux, Mac, x86 and ia64-based bare metal systems with hypervisor-based virtualisation, container-based virtualisation and a suite of complementary automation solutions.”

Very cool, it will be interesting to see what new products come along this year under the new Parallels brand.
