How can I tell what firmware I have installed on a HP server?
I got an email asking how you could tell what version of firmware you have on your Compaq/HP server, here are a few ideas of the top of my head:Â
1. Check the compaq/hp survey utility - it’s a text file which is installed as part of the driver packs and logs all this information there - typically c:\compaq\survey\survey.txt - This was replaced by the HP online diagnostic utility
2. Run the HP Web agent, type http://servername:2301 accept the security message, log in as either administrator (older driver packs) or using a domain account with the right level of access (latest driver packs). Click the insight management agents hyperlink and from their you can access the system board for serial number and firmware versions.
3. Run the online firmware upgrade package, the package will scan the system and tell you if it’s up to date, for example “we’ve found smart array controller version 1.44, the current version is 1.50, click next to install”.
4. Run the online hp insight diagnostics, select level advanced and click the all tab.
