CHICAGO, July 24 — Univa Corp., the leading provider of open source software, support, and services for cluster and grid solutions, today announced a multi-level relationship with Sun Microsystems. The agreement includes: an OEM and support agreement for Sun’s Grid Engine to be integrated into the Univa Globus Cluster Edition software; membership to the Sun Partner Advantage Program; and co-marketing/co-sales efforts.

The announcement, originally made at the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC) in Dresden, Germany, releases the incorporation of the well-known Sun Grid Engine commercial product within the Univa Globus Cluster Edition. Univa’s Globus Cluster Edition software solution was launched April 30 and has taken off rapidly in the open source community. The Cluster Edition provides an integrated cluster solution that dramatically reduces cluster management costs and productivity.

Very cool, this furthers the grid message and brings new opportunities for the Sun/Sun Grid Engine product which has to be a good thing, check it out.
