SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–With operational costs skyrocketing, organizations everywhere are looking for ways to bring expenses down. According to two new separate surveys conducted by The Kern Organization and National Computing Centre (NCC), most end-users worldwide are looking for a more efficient way to run their data centers, including better ways to power and cool their data storage infrastructures, while saving on real estate costs to physically house those systems.

According to the NCC, three quarters of all data centers in the United Kingdom will have to face up to increasing environmental pressures in the next two years, 36 percent of respondents say floor capacity will have the biggest impact on data center and storage resourcing decisions over the next two years, and Kern’s results showed that 86 percent of respondents claimed space, power, and cooling were among chief concerns regarding the efficiency of their storage assets.

Even though green storage may be the most hyped topic so far this year, the discussion has been limited to only power and cooling consumption. For a true measure of overall storage efficiency, companies need to consider an additional critical component – physical space.
