SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) today announced the availability of the new SunSpectrum(SM) Enterprise Service Plan for enterprise customers. The new innovative modular support plan gives customers one blanket support contract for all Sun hardware and software at a single, low price, in addition to the option of support for non-Sun hardware as well. Sun is offering this “open” support service plan using modular building blocks that provides enterprise customers the ability to have one single point of contact for all covered support service issues, bringing simplicity and quick resolution for potential support issues.
Very cool, this allows Sun to bring enhanced service to its customer, having one central point of contact, one escalation path and point of accountability is fantastic, and helps Sun align one person to the customers business to understand their needs, and hopefully build a relationship to add value, generate revenue and showing customer commitment very cool, check it out. The addition of supporting non-Sun hardware sounds interesting, is this moving towards a service delivery type role?
