Presenting to a group of journalists at its Research Triangle Centre in North Carolina Big Blue unveiled its HC10 blade along with its TC10 thin client companion.

For the latter the firm promises high performance and rich multimedia, something with which traditional thin clients often battle.

According to IBM BladeCentre vice president Tom Bradicich, the HC10 “rivals a high end desktop experience”.

The IBM blade workstation provides a new opportunity for hosting the trader pc in a secure centralized way bringing all the benefits of the blade pc as ClearCube showed us. The advantage for existing IBM blade customers is that they appear to fit in the existing cabinets allowing IT to share the costs with its existing blade infrastructure.

Are they right for your business?

You’ll need to check from a data center angle what your energy and cooling capacity is, but the benefits of centralizing the platform, of having a virtually on demand solution for the trader pc is invaluable and should bring real savings/improvements in response times in comparison to the olden days way of providing the trader pc. Lastly it might also cool down the traders legs, the traders can get quite hot when surrounded by four pcs…
