Dell to sell Direct and through Wal-Mart

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/business/6690171.stm

Computer firm Dell has announced plans to start selling personal computers through low-cost retailer Wal-Mart.

The move marks a major push by Dell into the retail market after years of relying on direct sales through the mail, phone orders and the internet.

It is hoped the strategy will boost Dell’s chances against Hewlett-Packard, which overtook Dell last year as the world’s biggest PC maker.

I think it’s a great move forward and opens up whole new markets. There still remains those people that want to visit a shop to buy their pc, that want to know when it breaks I can bring it back in and get a guy to fix it. Not to mention the technical people amongst us who require the occasional impulse buy. Check out the article.
