BANKS want to test applications virtualisation software used by some of the world’s largest financial firms, according to DataSynapse, a US-based provider seeking to enter the local market.
“To date, we’ve been very focused on North America and Europe where we’ve got more than 50 big banks using our technology,” says Jack Randell, DataSynapse’s local business director.
“But Australian banks are starting to think, ‘Well, if everyone else is using this, why aren’t we?’“The telcos and multinationals that have seen others using the technology want to find out what it’s all about.”
Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Randell plans to recruit a local partner to provide services and support. Over the past six months, he has had discussions with several banks keen to trial application virtualisation, and hopes to sign two or three customers this year.
Very cool, nice to see how grid technology is being adopted in the financial sector, I know the ability to price accurately and quickly can be a significant benefit of the grid technology, that I can say to the client the price will be 7.44 or whatever, be more accurate and possibly quicker than my competitor can give me the business edge, I need, something that isn’t always quantifiable.
