In a rare turn of events, Microsoft will not be issuing any critical security updates for the month of March. Scheduled to be released on March 13th, 2007, only the Malicious Software Removal Tool will be updated.

On the Microsoft Security Response Center blog is the following statement:

“For the month of March 2007, we will not be releasing any new security updates on March 13, 2007.

The Microsoft security update process is very effective, it’s crucial that your Microsoft servers are kept up to date in order to limit any potential issues with the operating system, and keep in line with Microsoft’s support recommendations. No patches this month, so the server engineers can stand down, in the past though this has meant that the next month more patches were released as they were still testing/researching fixes for issues.
