HP has announced global availability of its Consolidated Client Infrastructure (CCI), enabling customers in the UK and elsewhere to cut IT support overheads by centralising desktops into server rooms.
CCI replaces standard desktops with blade PCs in a rack-mounted enclosure, typically accessed via a thin client on each user’s desk. This architecture, available in the US for some time, can reduce management costs by 50 percent over four years, HP said.
Very cool, the article mentions how the support cost savings and that it is already on trial in Europe. Excellent, glad to see the pc blade getting some exposure to the market, the technology is coming along nicely, and is a great way of reducing the cost/challenges with desktop pc support.
On a side note though, an AMD 1Ghz? Isn’t that a bit of a dark ages pc? Not being funny, but that’s minimum requirements for Vista, the ClearCube blade will be faster, and they remain pioneers, market leaders in blade pc deployments..
ClearCube blade-pc me up you might say….
