Microsoft also made an announcement yesterday at MacWorld. They are going to release Mac Office 2008 later this year (here’s an informative interview with the Mac BU GM. I’ve been wondering for a while if this would happen and if I would get a copy for my Mac. I don’t think that I need to. I have Parallels, the awesome virtualization software that allows us to run Windows in a window on a Mac.
This article is right. I’ve got two computers, my Powermac G5 and my refurbished pentium4 thinkpad which I got of ebay. The thinkpad is used for project, visio and age of empires 3.ÂÂ
I’ve got the software licenses, I’ve got office for Mac and Office XP, with vmware/Parallels I know longer need my pc, more importantly my interest in purchasing office for mac is reducing, it’s always been rather expensive and lacking in functionality in comparison to the windows equivalent.
One of my things with mac office was always whenever I asked why can’t I get project/visio for the mac? Lack of demand sir, lack of demand… There are really no mac users out there that view/edit project/visio documents?
Well I now have an excuse for a new macpro with vmware/parallels. I can run everything on my mac, the apps written for pc can run in a virtual session, and say goodbye to my early Pentium 4 thinkpad, it’s been getting rather old, particularly at running Internet Explorer 7…

You realise, of course that VMWare and Parallels are different companies and different products…
You’re right sir, my ramblings didn’t make that clear.
