CSRwire) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) shifted from the periphery to the mainstream in 2005; in 2006 it dominated headlines and catapulted into the heart of our collective consciousness. CSR initiatives such as microfinance and “green” energy impacted lives and won allegiance–from the poorest of the poor to the richest of the rich to the sexiest of the sexy.

The importance of the corporate and social responsibility has made a lot of organizations to look at the way they do business.  It’s easy to pick up a copy of the economist or the financial times and read an article about how such and such a company changed their processes and it saved so much carbon per year.

How then do we treat the datacenter?  Granted it’s a cost of doing business, I need my IT infrastructure, fine, but could I be more efficient with it?  Could I be using vmware to provde the core infrastructure and using more energy efficient desktops which power off at night, booting in the morning ready for use?
