Interesting article saying that as the budgets for IT reduce, CIOs are forced to spend their money more efficiently, worth a read, it’s true, as with most things though, there’s a fine line between saving money, and saving money in the short term, you may save a few thousand a year in capital costs by not upgrading your hardware, but often this cost is simply transferred to indirect support cost, whether in the IT maintenance contract or in downtime for hours whilst we try to obtain a five year old array controller at 3 in the morning….
